Semrush vs Ahrefs vs SE Ranking
Semrush, Ahrefs and SE Ranking are the three full SEO platforms most often shortlisted together, and at the plans most teams compare they now cost almost the same: Ahrefs Lite and SE Ranking Core at $129 a month, the Semrush SEO plan at $139. That makes the choice less about price than about what each is built to do best — Semrush for breadth, Ahrefs for link and keyword data, SE Ranking for rank tracking and client reporting.

Our verdict
Choose Semrush if you want one account for SEO, paid search, content and competitor research; nothing else in this comparison covers as much ground. The SEO plan is $139 a month, Starter $199, Pro+ $299 and Advanced $549. Every plan includes one user and several capabilities are sold as separate toolkits, so a team's bill runs above the headline. There is a free account with daily request caps and a 7-day free trial.
Choose Ahrefs if data quality is the purchase, above all backlinks. Starter is $29 a month with tight credit limits, Lite $129, Standard $249 and Advanced $449, with API and MCP access from Lite upward. It has a free tier for sites you verify ownership of but no free trial, and additional users are paid add-ons on most plans.
Choose SE Ranking if the work is tracking rankings and reporting to clients. Core is $129 a month with daily rank checks on every plan and a site audit allowance of 250,000 pages a month; Growth is $279 and adds manager seats, and white-label reporting is a paid add-on on annual billing. Its keyword and backlink databases are smaller than the other two, and it has a 14-day free trial but no free plan.
Between $129 and $139 a month all three are real options, so decide on the job: breadth, data or reporting. Below that price only Ahrefs Starter exists. In VERILO's assessment SE Ranking is the easiest to pick up, scoring 4 out of 5 for ease of use against 3 for both Semrush and Ahrefs.
