monday.com alternatives

8 tools in Project Management comparable to monday.com, ranked by VERILO editor rating and editorial score. Rankings are independent of affiliate relationships.

The two common reasons to look past monday.com are seat economics and depth. The free plan covers two seats and paid plans start at three, so one- and two-person teams pay for a seat they do not use; and teams that want deep configuration eventually hit the edges of the board model.

For seat economics, ClickUp has the most generous free plan in this category — unlimited members — and includes time tracking and automations that cost extra elsewhere. Trello is cheaper still and much simpler, and is the right answer when a board is genuinely all you need.

For depth, Asana is the closest competitor on structured work management and tends to suit teams that think in tasks and dependencies rather than colourful boards. Engineering teams that want issue tracking tied to Git should look at Linear, which is a different kind of product.
