Gemini

Gemini is Google's AI assistant, available on the web, in Android and iOS apps, inside Chrome, and within Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Meet and other Workspace apps. It answers questions grounded in Google Search, runs Deep Research reports, generates and edits images, converses by voice in Gemini Live, and can pull from a user's Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Maps and YouTube when those extensions are enabled. Gems are saved custom assistants, Canvas is a side-by-side editor for documents and code, and developers reach the same models through the Gemini API and the open-source Gemini CLI.

Consumer plans are sold as Google AI subscriptions bundled with cloud storage. The Free tier includes 15 GB and limited access to the Pro-class model. Google AI Plus is approximately $4.99 per month with 400 GB and roughly double the Free limits; Google AI Pro is $19.99 with 5 TB, more Pro-model and Deep Research access, Flow video credits and the Jules coding agent; Google AI Ultra starts at approximately $99.99 with 20 TB, Deep Think reasoning and the highest limits. Business users get Gemini included in Google Workspace plans instead.

What to know: usage limits are stated as multipliers rather than numbers, plan names and inclusions change frequently, and Google's privacy notice says human reviewers may read conversations, so confidential data belongs in Workspace rather than the consumer app.
