Claude is Anthropic's AI assistant, available on the web, in Windows and macOS desktop apps, on iOS and Android, and through a Chrome extension. It is used for writing and editing, document and data analysis, research with web search, and programming, and it is known for long-context reading, careful instruction following and a measured writing style. Projects keep files and instructions together, Artifacts render code and documents beside the chat, and connectors link Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, Notion, Asana, Jira, GitHub, Canva and Zapier. Paid plans also unlock Claude Code, a terminal-based coding agent, and Cowork, a desktop agent for file-based tasks.

The Free plan includes web search, memory, file creation and connectors but has tight, demand-dependent message limits. Pro costs $20 per month ($17 billed annually); Max starts at $100 per month for 5x Pro usage and $200 for 20x. Team seats are $25 per user per month ($20 annually) for 2 to 150 people, with premium seats at $125 ($100 annually) carrying 5x usage. Enterprise is billed annually and, as listed, combines a per-seat fee with usage charged at API rates.

What to know: there is no built-in image generation, usage is metered in five-hour and weekly windows that long agentic sessions can exhaust, and the Anthropic API is billed separately from any subscription.
