Runway

Runway is a generative AI video platform built around its Gen series of models, which produce short clips from text prompts, still images or reference video. Alongside generation it offers image generation, motion and camera controls, lip sync, video-to-video stylization and older editing utilities such as green-screen removal and inpainting. A public API lets developers call the same models from their own products.

Its users are filmmakers, agencies, VFX artists and marketers experimenting with AI-generated footage, and it is one of the most cited tools in the space. Output quality is strong but not deterministic: getting a usable shot usually takes several attempts, clips are short (typically five to ten seconds per generation), and each attempt consumes credits, so the real cost per finished second is higher than the headline plan price suggests. There is no conventional timeline editor for assembling a full video.

The free plan comes with a one-time allowance of around 125 credits, enough for a handful of generations. Standard is $15 a month ($12 billed annually) with a monthly credit budget, Pro raises the budget and adds features such as custom voices, and Max ($95 monthly) has the largest credit budget and rolls up to a month of unused credits over. Enterprise adds SSO and custom terms.
