Squarespace is usually outgrown rather than rejected. The two limits people hit are the extension ecosystem, which is far smaller than Shopify's or WordPress's, and commerce depth: abandoned cart recovery, subscriptions and the Commerce API all sit on the top plan.

If commerce has become the main event, Shopify is the upgrade — a larger ecosystem, deeper selling tools and a path to enterprise volume, at the price of app subscriptions and a less design-led editor. BigCommerce is worth comparing if you want more built in without app sprawl.

If the site rather than the store is the problem, Wix offers more layout flexibility and a larger app market, with less design consistency out of the box. And before moving at all, check the arithmetic on your current plan: the approximately 2% transaction fee on Basic often means upgrading a tier is cheaper than switching platform.
