Framer is a website builder that works like a design tool: you lay out pages on a freeform canvas with layout stacks, breakpoints and components, then publish directly to Framer's hosting. It began as a prototyping tool and pivoted to websites in 2022; today it is used by designers, startups and agencies for marketing sites, landing pages and portfolios that need polished animation without hand-written code.

Standouts include scroll, hover and appear effects that would otherwise need a developer, a built-in CMS, localization, native forms and analytics, and a plugin marketplace with first-party syncs for Notion, Airtable and Google Sheets. An official Figma import plugin brings existing designs onto the canvas, and AI features (Wireframer, Workshop) generate layouts and components from prompts. Templates are sold and shared through an official marketplace.

Pricing is per site rather than per user. A Free plan publishes to a framer.app subdomain with a Framer badge. Paid site plans start with Mini at approximately $5 per month billed annually for a single page on a custom domain; Basic ($15 per month annually) adds up to 150 pages and one CMS collection, and Pro ($30 per month annually) adds staging, localization and higher visitor limits. Team workspaces bill additional editor seats separately, and Enterprise is custom. The canvas is intuitive for Figma users but less so for people used to form-based page builders.
