Freshdesk vs Zendesk
Freshdesk and Zendesk are both ticket-based help desks, and most teams comparing them are really deciding how much help desk they need. Zendesk is the reference point in the category: deep routing, SLAs, reporting and every channel in one agent workspace. Freshdesk covers conventional ticketing with a lighter setup, and sells omnichannel support as a separate product, Freshdesk Omni.

Our verdict
Choose Freshdesk if your support is mostly email and web forms and the team is small to mid-sized. Growth is $19 per agent per month billed annually and already includes the customer portal and knowledge base, Pro is $55 and Enterprise $89, and the interface is quick to learn. The free plan it was long known for is no longer on its pricing page, so a 14-day trial is the way in. Omnichannel support is a separate, higher-priced product, Freshdesk Omni, and reporting and automation are shallow on Growth.
Choose Zendesk if you answer several channels at volume and need SLAs, skills-based routing and audit-ready reporting. Support Team is $19 per agent per month billed annually but covers email and social ticketing only; chat, voice, messaging and the help center come with the Suite, from $55 for Suite Team and $115 for Suite Professional, and AI agents are billed on top. Expect a real setup period for views, triggers and routing.
At the entry price the two cost the same, and Freshdesk includes more at it: a knowledge base on Growth where Zendesk's help center needs the Suite. The deciding question is channels. An email-first team of a few agents will pay for capability it does not use on Zendesk; a team working many channels from one queue should weigh Zendesk's Suite against Freshdesk Omni rather than the base plans. In VERILO's assessment Freshdesk is the easier of the two, scoring 4 out of 5 for ease of use against Zendesk's 3.
